HDSA Awards

Congratulations to the amazing individuals who make our community a better place for people with Down syndrome!

The following people were honoured on March 24th, 2018: 

HDSA VIP Award - Jacob Stretton

This award will be given to an individual with Down syndrome at any age.  This VIP must be a member of HDSA in good standing and represent HDSA through outstanding achievement within the Halton community.  This individual is a leader and represents HDSA, promoting the acceptance and inclusion of all individuals with Down syndrome.

 

HDSA Volunteer Award - Lauren Hughes

This award will be given to an individual (or team of individuals) who doesn’t have a VIP in his/her immediate family.  This individual (or team of individuals) has shown excellence in volunteering over the past year and has had a profound impact on the association.  This individual (or team of individuals) is a leader for the association and advocates on behalf of HDSA, promoting the acceptance and inclusion of all individuals with Down syndrome.

 

HDSA Member Award - Karen Drexler

This award will be given to an individual (or team of individuals) who is a member of HDSA in good standing.  This individual (or team of individuals) has shown excellence in volunteering over the past year and has had a profound impact on the association.  This individual (or team of individuals) is a leader for the association and advocates on behalf of HDSA, promoting the acceptance and inclusion of all individuals with Down syndrome.

 

HDSA Kim Pace Award - Carmela Roper

This award will be given to a professional (e.g., teacher, early childhood educator, educational assistant, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, speech and language pathologist, tutor, coach, etc.) who has provided a significant contribution to the life of an individual (or individuals) with Down syndrome in Halton over the past year.  This professional is helping HDSA achieve their mission to “see our children become responsible, self-sufficient, included members of our society, who are accepted by their peers and able to lead happy, productive lives.”

 

HDSA Community Partner Award - The Dance Ability Movement

This award will be given to a business, sponsor, employer, or organization that has provided a significant contribution to the life of an individual (or individuals) with Down syndrome in the Halton community over the past year.  This business, sponsor, employer, or organization is a leader within the community, promoting the acceptance and inclusion of individuals with Down syndrome.

 

HDSA Lifetime Achievement Award - Paul Bandiera

This award will be given to an individual (or team of individuals) who is a member of HDSA in good standing.  This individual (or team of individuals) has shown excellence in volunteering over a significant period of time and has had a profound impact on the association.  This individual (or team of individuals) is a leader for the association and advocates on behalf of HDSA, promoting the acceptance and inclusion of all individuals with Down syndrome.
